Android is an Open Source Operating System based on the Linux Kernel, its creator was Andy Rubin and was later acquired by Google in 2005.
Since 2007 Android has been a member of the Open Handset Alliance, which has made it take off and dominate most mobile device brands. This is a consortium composed of the hardware brands in the market, it includes Samsung, LG, Sony, Toshiba, Dell, etc.
Android has remained at the forefront and in constant evolution, has released many versions that are available in different types and ranges of hardware that make it more accessible. As a historical context every time a software feature was released a hardware add-on was also released which brought innovation on both sides.
Android gradually became the favorite of users because it made available to many, high technology. As this market grew so much, it brought with it a demand for developers who knew the philosophy of the Operating System and the challenges of supporting multiple ranges of devices.
There are different reasons why we chose since its appearance to develop apps for Android: one of the favorites is for being Open Source, this gives a level of accessibility that makes it so flexible allowing to create very robust and innovative applications.
One more reason is the wide market share it offers, we are talking about the amount of users your project can reach, this is the dream of many developers that their product reaches as many people as possible, as it happens with most of the apps we have built.
